The HSD Summer School is a key part of the HSD-Japan Gateway Project. Once a year in September HSD welcomes students from its partner Universities in Japan on campus for a week an and a half of project-based intensive learning and intercultural exchange with their peers at HSD. The interdisciplinary program is open to students from all fields and presents a great opportunity for Japanese students to dip their toes into international academic mobility with the financial support through HSD-Japan Gateway. For HSD students the Summer School offers access to hands-on, experience-based learning outside of their original field of study, intercultural exchange at home as well as valuable network opportunities without any additional monetary costs. The Summer School culminates in a University-wide HSD Japan Day that showcases the tangible outcomes of the participants' work to the public and invites attendees to learn more about the German-Japanese relations in general and the HSD-Japanese partnerships in particular.
