After 10 years of being president and having shaped HSD, Prof. Dr. Brigitte Grass has retired. Her successor Prof. Dr. Edeltraud Vomberg took over office on 1 June 2019.
HSD welcomed the new president and said farewell to the former president in an official ceremony on 25 June 2019. Members of HSD, representatives from local politics, industries, associations and cultural institutions as well as other supporters joined the event. Annette Storsberg welcomed the new president and thanked the retired president for her hard work for HSD on behalf of the ministry for culture and academic affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia. Mayor Friedrich G. Conzen emphasised the importance of HSD and its new campus for Düsseldorf.
The new campus also formed part of the retired president’s farewell speech. She thanked all HSD members and partners for their support and reminisced about major projects such as the construction of the new campus.
The new president focussed on the future and presented plans for her time in office. Amongst other things, she is determined to expand ties with Düsseldorf and the region and shape new study programmes according to needs in practice. Digitalisation is one of the topics she is planning to work on intensively.
HSD’s choir Jazzappeal as well as a couch talk between Simone Fischer, HSD’s press spokesperson, and Herbert K. Meyer, chairperson of the University Council, complemented the official ceremony. Afterwards, all guests were invited to enjoy a casual get together in a relaxed atmosphere on a hot summer evening.
