Wednesday 1 April // Guided Tour of Alter Schlachthof Memorial Centre (English)  - CANCELLED!

The memorial at the Alter Schlachthof, located directly on our campus today, commemorates the crimes committed during the reign of the National Socialist regime. We invite you to an introduction to the history and significance of the former slaughterhouse, which was used as a collection point before the deportations to the concentration camps.

Wednesday 6 May // Sprachcafé Mondial goes ONLINE!

Sprachcafé Mondial is our popular weekly event for learning languages in a fun and entertaining way.

Starting on May 6th, it will be held via video conferencing - every Wednesday at 18:30.

Wednesday 20 May // In Conversation with the Foreigners’ Registration Office: Right of Residence for International Students (in German, questions in English welcome) - ONLINE!

In cooperation with the International Office of Heinrich Heine University and the Office for Migration and Integration Düsseldorf. 

Especially in times of Corona, we would like to give you the opportunity to get answers to your questions about your residence permit directly from the Foreigner’s Office. In addition, the new Specialist Immigration Act came into force on 1 March 2020.
We will organise a video meeting for international students. It will be in German but questions in English are welcome.
 
Please register HERE​. Let us know your questions in advance. We will collect all questions from you and forward them anonymously to Mr Schlabes, the representative of the Foreigner’s Office. He will then answer them at the event.
Registration deadline is Monday, 18.05.2020 (23:59 hrs). All registered participants will receive the access data by e-mail on Tuesday, 19.05.2020. A separate registration confirmation will not be sent.

Wednesday 27 May // Virtual Talk About the Labour Market for International Academics With the Employment Agency (Agentur für Arbeit)

Many of you are probably wondering how the job market in Germany has changed as a result of the Corona pandemic, whether this will have an impact on your opportunities as an academic to find a job after graduation, what this means in concrete terms for someone studying mechanical engineering, social work or architecture, for example, or what this means for your job search for a student part-time job. If you are interested in these or similar questions, you can ask Ms Tschense from the Düsseldorf Employment Agency.

We will organize a video meeting for international students. It will be in German but questions in English are welcome.

Wednesday 3 June // Lecture: German Labour Law 101 (in German, questions in English welcome)

In cooperation with Heinrich Heine University. 

As a result of the Corona pandemic, many student part-time jobs were terminated. And you may wonder whether this was okay, whether you have a right to a job reference, what it should say, etc. Ask your questions about employment law to the employment law expert Mr. Pfister.
We hope that we will be able to hold this event for international students at „Haus der Universität“. If this should not be possible, Mr. Pfister will answer your questions in writing. This event will be in German but questions in English are welcome.
