EAIE breaking all records: The 31st international conference and exhibition of the European Association for International Education has set a new record with its 6,200 visitors from 95 countries. Excellent, collaborative, inspiring, inclusive – these adjectives convey the values shared in the introductory speech by Sabine Pendl, President of the EAIE and Director of the Office of International Relations at the University of Graz, Austria.
This year, the EAIE conference and exhibition took place in Helsinki, Finland. From 24 to 27 September, universities from all over the world presented themselves in the exhibition centre of the capital of Finland. As in the previous years, HSD was part of the event and presented the programmes of the ‘Düsseldorf universities’ in a booth together with HHU.
The EAIE provides a platform to make new contacts and strengthen existing bonds with partner universities – evaluating and refining existing exchange programmes and working on new plans.
The highlight of the exhibition was the traditional reception of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) at the booth. Each university was supposed to bring a speciality from their region. Of course, Düsseldorf universities brought local mustard and Killepitsch – the famous local liquor. The mustard tasting came as a surprise and attracted many visitors! It was not long before all mustard chocolates and the Killepitsch were gone as well ...
The next EAIE conference and exhibition will take place from 15 to 18 September 2020 in Barcelona. Of course, HSD will be there.
