The team of the Student Advisory and Counselling Service (ZSB - Zentrale Studienberatung) are the right people to contact for overall guidance and general questions related to studying. We regard ourselves as the central contact point and “clearing house” which, if need be, will refer you to other units either in-house or outside the University. Our advice is unbiased and confidential. Whether you have yet to decide whether or not to go to university or have already made up your mind, there are lots of things to consider which you might like to discuss with someone. We can give you individual information which will enable you to make a sound decision. We also speak English, if you prefer.
For school pupils as well as (prospective) students we offer:
- Preparatory advice prior to studying, advice on choice of study programme
- Information on study options, admission requirements, degrees and professional prospects
- Guidance in general studying conditions at the University
- Advice in the initial stages (e.g. bridge courses, guidance for students at the start of their studies)
- Advice during the course of students’ studies (e.g. on changing subject)
- Advice on doubts about studying (website in German only)
- Advice in the final phase (e.g. advanced studies or career entry)
- Advice following rejection (e.g. on alternatives to bridge the waiting period)
- Contacts to other useful advisory services
